It’s a Fishin’ Chix REVOLUTION, People! Just a few years ago, I sent out an invitation to a small group of friends, both aspiring and experienced anglers, to join me at the Fish House Restaurant, in Pensacola, Florida, for a ‘Top Secret’ meeting. The premise (a.k.a., my agenda), for this gathering, was to enlist adventuresome women to join me in my quest to explore my new discovery and passion: the fascinating world of fishing! How bizarre, as I had NEVER, in ANY remote fashion, been in touch with my inner-fish! The only requirement for membership: Nice Women, Fun Loving, Like Fish (even if you don’t like fishing, how could you not ‘like’ fish?). Anyway, many of you probably know the story…think hurricane frazzled desperate housewives, trudging alongside equally stressed out career women, craving a reprieve from the madness that followed the many hurricanes, which ruthlessly battered the Florida coasts, in 2004 and 2005. My personal inner-fish reared its head via the sudden emergence of a very powerful primitive instinct. I demanded an avenue that allowed me to feel empowered and self-confident, in my existence, which had completely spun out of control. It was so weird standing in line for ice, water, and food, something that I had never really thought twice about. If everything truly continued to go down the tubes (and it certainly felt like it, at the time…), at least I would have the skill-set to feed my people. And, PRESTO!!, when I least expected it, at the age of 40, I unknowingly reinvented myself, into a Fishin’ Chix! Bye, bye, Merrill Lynch, and good-bye to pantyhose. LET’S GO FISHING!

Okay, if you are reading this ’reely’ long letter, you must have been touched by the ‘allure’ of fishing, too (or, perhaps, you are in the process of getting hooked?)! Can you tell I love all of these fishy puns? Anyway, I have now experienced the adventure, myself, and there is no turning back. The joy of fishing is no longer confined to the alpha male’s bait bucket! In fact, women, like you and me, represent 29% of the anglers, in the state of Florida, and over 30% of the anglers, nationwide. Wow! I told you, it’s a fishin’ REVOLUTION!
